Have a textbook or grammar book that you find particularly helpful? What about a learning tip to share with others?

I have 10.3, but this might work for you as well.

The program you need is probably... Mac OS X itself!

Try opening up your System Preferences, and then double-click on the "International" icon to open up the International preference panel.
From there, click on the tab that says "Input Menu." Then, check the checkbox for "Show input menu in menu bar" and the checkboxes (in the list of options you see) for Japanese Kana Palette (lets you click buttons to input kana) and Kotoeri, Hiragana, and Katakana (lets you type romaji and have OS X convert it to kana)

You can even get kanji with the kotoeri method.
