kana paper
When I practice hiragana and katakana I try to write the strokes exactly where they belong in the square. It doesn't take more time to do it correctly
I am using graph paper, but the all the lines are the same density and thus a bit distracting
In my book the quadrant markings are lighter than the perimeter of the square.
Does anyone know of a site that has a free template for the kana paper with the quadrants ?
Thank you,
Barbara

RE: kana paper
do a google search for 'genkoyoshi' and you might find something to your liking.
i have 4 PDFs that i found somewhere... can't find the original link in my bookmarks (sigh) with genkoyoshi of various sizes from big to small and one with space for furigana. i can put those up somewhere. but i find the horizontal and vertical quadrant lines a bit too dark, especially when making photocopies....
beginner
intermediate
advanced
furigana
if you can do Postscript on your machine (either with Ghostscript or a direct Postscript printer) then i wrote a rough genkoyoshi.ps file which lets you decide how big you want the squares to be and what linewidths/greyscale you want the border and quadrant lines to be.

ありがとう ございいむす !!
The PDF files you provided will work for me.
If in the future I decide that I want the quadrant makings a little lighter I can do that with my printer.
This site is wonderful!!

I used to feel sorry for old people for having to eventually die and miss out on all the stuff the younger generation is enjoying.
More and more I pity them less and less.

High in vitamin C, but watch the sugar content!
Zen, would you mind us adding the PDFs to the downloads? I am sure they would be a big hit. If you don't mind, please write your name at the bottom.

RE: kana paper
the only reason i didn't put them on TJP somewhere is that i found them out on the internet somewhere and i don't remember where. i've looked through the files and don't see any sort of copyright info or anything like that. (hopefully nobody would care that much about a page of squares...) so, putting them in the downloads is fine by me, but they're not really mine in the first place.
i managed to convert my Postscript version to a PDF file, and suprisingly it's 1/200th the size of the other PDFs.... and has much lighter lines.
genkoyoshi
i doubt anybody will have a problem with sharing of the advanced, intermediate, beginner and furigana PDFs. and/or i can make various sizes and layouts and make PDFs that are worry-free.
