Japanese Learning Game (RPG Style)

i downloaded the game. it's awesome for the hiragana and the katakana, but when you get to the kanji part are you supposed to be able to see the kanji in the sentence? or are the squiggly lines supposed to be there?

Yep, I had that problem too and the problem made it unplayable. So frustrating. The Japanese font file wasn't being properly displayed in game so you get squiggly poo. I take it you downloaded the pre-packaged Win version as I did (WinXP system here). Not sure why it doesn't work so I ended up downloading & installing the recommended method: latest version that was also posted on the site and then all Kanji was correctly displayed.

By the way I originally found this game from a Japanese IRC room:

The guy who made the game is usually in that room under the nick Taw so he/she can probably provide a link to game or help with troubleshooting.

I learned some kanji from a rpg called Slime Forest, the pictures stuck in my head, but i didn't know the readings

And it's programmed in python too! Cool! Is this any good for very beginners to kanji? I'm just finishing up my kana and going to kanji now.
