Ahh, If only I had $500 burning a hole in my pocket.

Sorry that I can't answer the question.

i don't think that any of the free dictionaries (even jim breens) compare to the amount of reference you get out of a wordtank.

That's just me though.

If you bought the actual paper dictionaries found in the G70, you would spend much more than $500.

personally, I like dedicated dictionaries. They enable you to look up words quicker than loading the dictionary in a Pocket Pc or Palm.

Just for your info, the G70 is great. I bought it about 5 weeks ago, and absolutely love it. Thanks in part to the reviews that Clay gave on his webstore. It has everything you could ever want to help aid your studies. Of course it comes with about a 47,000 yen price tag. But hey, it's worth it.

I bought the G55 and I love it because it has everything that I need but if you are set on the G70 than try Kakaku if your in Japan. They always have the cheapest prices. http://kakaku.com/prdsearch/detail.asp? ... 0752010277

If your here in the states just go with Clay's Japan Shop!

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think I read that Clay now has an arrangement where he can ship anywhere in the world at a reasonable rate.
Depending on the prices in Poland, it may be cheaper to buy it from Clay and pay the shipping cost.

Actually, now the prices include worldwide shipping for all dictionaries since most are shipped from Japan anyway. In other words the shipping is 'Free' at http://www.thejapanshop.com :)

Edit: shipping is free for dictionaries only. Books are a different story unfortunately!

I was suddenly affected by an impulse to get me a G70 just now. So I went and ordered one. Plus some Inuyasha books to try it out on ;)

Coming back to the original question, I came across links to Holosoft's Daijikan and PocketLingo for the Palm at Architump's Pook home page. Neither are free; Daijikan is 4914円 and PocketLingo Suite U is 8925円. The best free dictionary I've seen for PalmOS is PADict which, not surprisingly, is based on edict and shares edict's limitations as an English->Japanese dictionary. To use either Daijikan or PocketLingo you'll probably need either a Sony Clie or a Palm with the J-OS IME installed. Peter Rivard has put together a description of how to make a Super Dictionary using a combination of PADict and WDIC to access the edict and eijiro dictionaries.
