Are there computer programmes for beginners?

Have a textbook or grammar book that you find particularly helpful? What about a learning tip to share with others?

Are there computer programmes for beginners?

Post by Lava_Golem » Thu 12.07.2006 5:03 pm

Hello,
I am new at this site. (I mean OK, I registered month ago, but I had some realy hard month at school...). To come back to my post, I am looking for some useful programmes for beginners.

I have seen a special programme somewhere in the net. With this you can tipp in a text in Romanji and the programme writes it automatically in Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji, or a mix, whatever you want to do ...

Can somebody help me to find a download for this programme (I regret that I don't have the name of it...)?

And can you recommend some other programmes for beginners?

I hope somebody can help me and that I am in the right part of the forum...

Kind regards,
Lava_Golem

PS: Of course I have already downloaded some of the Files from this site ^^!

It's windows language bar, goto control panel, regional language settings, and check the box that says install eastern asia languages or something and press ok :)

After that you should see a language bar, just switch to hiragana and start typing.

What can cause this?

Thank you for your fast answer :)

Kind regards,
Lava

EDIT: The problem is, that after the installation i cannot find any language bar ore somesing similar ...

The program you're looking for is called Japanese Learning Suite. There's a download for it off of this site, off of the main page.

I have an older version and went to update, but phreadom.net seems to not exist anymore. Any ideas? Are they just that saturated?

Whois data from today shows someone owns the domain, but I have no clue if it's the same people. Megaproxy times out trying to get there from here, so not just my net. Domain is not pingable.

Thanks anyone for any info!

Try this for learning Japanese. A university course that's online. This is the link to the lecture notes: http://buna.arts.yorku.ca/japanese/eljp/ejlecnotes.html

This site and the programs listed in the previous posts can probably help you.

Cool, thanks!

What text(s) does this class use?

First video states there are no texts aside from the site... nevermind! :)
