RE: New Anki (0.2.6 + new Mac build)
Yufina: Yes, if you answer '3' it will schedule the card between 3-5 days, '4' between 7-10 days. This means that if you add a lot of cards on way day (for example 300), and answer '3' for all of them, you will be able to study 100 cards 3 days from now, 100 cards 4 days from now, and 100 cards 5 days from now.
For example, if you see a card and think "this is difficult", choose "1 day". Then you see it the next day and think "this is still difficult", so choose "1 day again". The next day, you think "this is a bit easier", so you choose "3-5 days". 4 days later, you think "now this is pretty easy", so you choose 7-10 days. 7 days later, if you think "i almost forgot", then you can choose 10 days again. If you think "this was easy again", you can choose 20 days. If you keep remembering easily, the time will get bigger and bigger.
two_heads_talking: sorry, I don't have a palm pilot to develop on. I've written a flash interface which works on Japanese mobile phones, but that's the only portable device which Anki works on at the moment.
Cheers,
Damien

RE: New Anki (0.2.6 + new Mac build)
I really like this program
But how about this:
Number 1 try again in 30min
Number 0 try again in 10min
Because there is some words that I wanna learn little later than others...
And undo button would be nice too, because I sometimes accidentally press wrong number
EDIT:
Maybe this would be better than tomorrow (number 2):
Example: If I study some words at 9:00 PM and press number 2 (tomorrow) then I can't parctise those words befor 9:00 PM on the next day. Maybe like 16 Hour would be better? Then I can parctice those words on next day.
And sorry, if my english is bad.

RE: New Anki (0.2.6 + new Mac build)
Hi Yufina,
I am considering changing 'study tomorrow' to 18-20 hours. Any shorter than that is too soon, I think.
Regarding making 1 practice again in 30 minutes, it's better just to schedule the card for the next day. The 10 minute review is not meant os a real test of your memory, it's just an easy way to learn new words by osmosis, and a double-check to ensure you you don't make the same mistake the next day.
The deck file is called 'tango.fc' and is stored in your user data folder on Windows. You can use the 'save as' option to put it somewhere else. Copying that file to another computer will ensure all your data is available. No data should be missing.
But there is also a network sync feature which is more convenient. Go to http://anki.repose.cx and create a username and password, then enter that into Anki's preferences. You will then be able to keep your deck sychronized between multiple computers.
Cheers,
Damien

Re: an undo feature, that will be implemented in the future.
Re: the window being wrongly positioned on Vista, that's probably Windows reporting a different geometr y to what it did on XP. I don't have a Vista machine to test it with at the moment. Thanks for the report

Yufina: that file just includes local settings like the colours, and the path to the last deck. On your other computer, you could have just used Deck -> Open file to load your deck instead.

Hi Yufina,
Yeah, I spotted a bug in my log window. I've fixed it already.

RE: New Anki (0.2.6 + new Mac build)
Resolve: First off, have you considered implementing a basic forum on your repose.cx homepage? Perhaps you could simply link the Anki study-online usernames to the forum as user handles.
Next, I wanted to request another feature - A command to generate deck statistics into text or HTML code. This is, of course, not a utility that people would need for their personal studying, but just a bragging tool to use with your Japanese study buddies. It would also be useful if you wanted to provide your own fc deck for others to download, as they would have the deck statistics to consider before downloading the deck. (Jouyou kanji stats and what not)
I'm glad to see your program is becoming more and more popular!

Oh Man, I only just noticed this thread now! I almost feel a bit stupid having posted up mine now (without being able to try yours right now, it certaintly looks and sounds more functional than my one!)
What is it with us programmers and the constant need to reinvent the wheel ... heh =)

RE: New Anki (0.2.6 + new Mac build)
Today when I opened anki and new deck and it show 1384 card?? I only have ~300 cards on my deck.
Huh. I deleted the new cards, but how it possible that it automatically created new cards?
