View topic - Hello everyone!
Katsumoto from the movie "The Last Samurai" says that not introducing yourself is extremely rude so I'd rather err on the side of politeness, although I'm aware that not everything presented in movies in true ^^ (jk)
I'm a 22-years-old girl from Bulgaria. I first started learning hiragana and basic grammar around 3 years ago but then had to interrupt my studies because of more pressing life issues. For the time being I'm back to Japanese :)
I do read quite a few mangas but the time I was obsessed with them is gone so they are not the main reason I'm want to be able to speak Japanese. I'm more interested in the culture much of which remains "behind closed doors" if you don't know the language. For example, how many of you have heard about Sato Kentaro-さん, the sculptor? He shares his name with the composer who is much more popular in the West and that makes it very difficult to find anything about the sculptor in English. This is one of my favorite sculptures:
As you could probably guess, Sato Kentaro-さん is famous for his stone owls ;)
Here you can find some info about him and his fellow artists and see more of his work: http://www.cosmoyume.com/. All in Japanese.
I hope this made for one slightly different introduction ^^
