Hello!

Post by angstycoder » Tue 02.14.2006 9:09 am

Greetings!

Just wanted to say a quick hello. I'm a twenty-four year old computer programmer type, work toward his degree in said field (my original degree was opera, so I'm a bit behind.)

I initially started studying French in school, as that was our only choice when Spanish filled up, and moved on to my first love of German in college. I have now moved on to start tackling Japanese. It's fascinated me for quite some time and, while German may be my first love, it's facing stiff competition.

Back to learning hiragana.

welcome!
we have some things in common. well, not really.
I only say that because this is my 9th year taking spanish.
I tried studying German but I was lazy so I quit.
Now I'm working on the basics of French while keeping up with Japanese.
But again, welcome. :D and have fun!

Thank you all!

As for German, it's pretty easy for Americans vocabulary-wise, because English is a predominately Germanic language. Grammar is hard for Americans often, as you need to know direct object, indirect object, cases, and all kinds of stuff not really taught in [public at least] schools anymore.

Embarassingly, I can't read the bottom just yet.

nihoni, ganbatsutene! I think is what that said? Hehe, I'm only solid on vowels, k, s, and t (and final n).

*should there be a u following the o?

angstycoderさん、

にほんご、がんばってね!
Nihongo ganbattene!
Good luck with your Japanese!

In hiragana we write あ(a)り(ri)が(ga)と(to)う(u), but it is normally pronounced "arigato" instead of "arigatou". So I usually write "arigato" in roma-ji just like I pronounce, but some people want to write according to how it is written in hiragana, "arigatou".

がんばってね:)

Actually, this site has been very helpful. I played around here a bit back in 2004 sometime, and it has come a long way!!!

The language practice suite on the news section, and one of the flashcardy-type programs under downloads have been VERY helpful to me for memorizing things!

I can't thank you folks enough for putting this up and for free no less!

Ich bin eine kleine kartoffel :D

Maybe not the best thing to say, but as so many other people talked some german i had to join with my skills too. ^_^

Hehe, have fun studying here! Please ask here on the forums if you ever need help.;)

Have a nice day,
- Zeo
