helloo
Been wanting to learn Japanese for some time because of my interest in the Japanese culture and my heritage. I was bored today, so I found this site from a search. Pretty nice site here. =) I've already got the first half of the hiragana today, and the most exciting part for me was being able to spell my grandmother's name and a little of well known Japanese words.
Well, I hope to have a great time here. ^_^

Welcome to TJP. Don't get carried away, though. I tried forcing Hiragana into my head in two days once, and was confident I had learned it and had it memorized. Next time I got on here, I had forgotten most of it. Learn from my mistake, and take it a bit slower and review what you've already learned as often as you can to make sure you memorize it. Just a bit of advice.

But anyway, welcome to the site and good luck learning Japanese!

If you're known as "The Jisatsu Guy," I'm guessing you're not very successful at what you do.

Hey welcome to the site! Hope you enjoy being here. :)

Taeko Saki is absolutely right, try not to learn to much at one so you don't forget it kay?

keatonatron, I don't think that was very polite. What has a username got to do with how successful someone is? I would have found that one offensive...

And successful people also commit suicide...

Did you get the joke? Jisatsu means suicide. If his nickname is "The Suicide Guy" and he's still alive, obviously he's not very good at killing himself. Notice I said "not successful at what you do" and not "not successful at life."

I don't think it was impolite at all. Understanding jokes before you get upset over them is usually a common courtesy B)

It was a joke about "one would have to fail a suicide attempt to get a nickname of 'suicide guy.'"

I know that you meant it as a joke. But that's the thing, you need to be sure that everyone will understand the joke beforehand. Sorry about that, I guess I just didn't know what a Jisastsu is...

rofl, those jokes did make me laugh

I know my username is rather unusual, but it's just an alias I always used for online and games etc. I thought the name was "cool" a long time ago XD
