I have problem comprehending this sentence (Page 18, last sentence):

Climbing the stone steps all the way to the top and leaping out into the sunlight, she raced to the tree while shaking off sunlight that seemed to stab her.

Rich, you missed a kanji in the sentence:
石段を上りきり、 陽光の中に飛び出し、刺すような光に涙をこばしながらまっすぐ木に駆け寄った。
And maybe that answers my question as well....
I was struggling with this sentence too, but I think that was mainly because I hade made a typo, putting 気 instead of 木...then I was trying to find out where you got the 'shaking off' from....
and now I'm trying to figure out what こぼしながら means, exactly...is it from:
小走り 【こばしり】 (n,adv,vs) trot; half run; ?

The quoted passage was typed in by SS. I plead guilty to not verifying it against the book.

こぼし is from 零す. 小走り is こしり, not こし. ながら attaches to the -masu stem of a verb, not to a noun like 小走り. To use it with 小走り, you'd have to say something like 小走りで歩きながら.

石段を上りきり、陽光の中に飛び出し、刺《さ》すような光に涙をこぼしながらまっすぐ木に駆けよった。

Opps, thanks for pointing that out, Kat.
Richさん、I apologize for the typo, my mistake.

I try to type out the words, as I think it is a good way to memorize the reading/pronunciation. Please forgive me for the mess! Sorry! >_<''

Thanks everyone. See you later.

小走り is こばしり, not こぼし

Serves me right
I made a lot of typos, but I'm dumb enough to work through the text by using my typed version....
That's why I couldn't place こばしながら.

(mind you , I have the same problem with こぼしながら )

Actually, during my translation, I often had this feeling: 'that has to be wrong' about the text and when I checked with the book (why do the Japanese use such small lettering???) it turned out it was wrong. So it really gave me a kick every time I recognised it!

Great, SS, you put the log up! Wonderful!
How did you manage to find the first half???

I've divided section 3 in paragraphs.
Thought maybe the first person could take 1 , 2 and 3
The second person could take 4, 5 and 6
The third person could take 7 and 8
It's just a random division....
We all have to read everything., anyway, and for now, I'll leave it open, so we can choose which section we want....Okay?

Paragraph 1:
「 罌粟かえ」
。。。。に続いた。

Paragraph 2:
現れたのは。。。
「は。。。。はい」

Paragraph 3:
「まだ未知に。。。
「___はい」

Paragraph 4:
深々と頭を。。。
「汕子、と」

Paragraph 5:
「その、汕子。。。
「そうか」

Paragraph6:
牡は麒、。。。
「になが。。。。」

Paragraph 7:
「蓉可の狼狽しきった。。。
「しよく。。。。!」

Paragraph 8:
玉葉は。。。
「…があるのに。。。。!」
We are all but images of our time

>>> How did you manage to find the first half???
I thought we agreed to save the first half manually?
Saved (to notepad) and uploaded to TJP's front page, where you could add to BLOG.

I'll take the first 3 paragraph. Thank you.

And I'll take the last one...

... which might be the end as far as I'm concerned, as I have, as you may have noticed, not developped a strong liking for the style.
