Re: Sad news about SS.
This is horrible.
Absolutely horrible.
Shirley and I flirted for a while off and on a few years back, and I think it kind of took on a bit more to us than I think it normally would have. We spoke on the phone a few times a while back, we talked in e-mail...
Dammit.
I had no idea (I can't believe I missed it) that things were as bad as they were.
I was hoping to make a trip out to Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan next spring.
Crap.
I need a drink.
Shirley, you have no idea how much I'm going to miss you.
Where's the scotch?

Re: Sad news about SS.
I didn't know about the news.
I'm shocked and can't believe it.
I learned a lot about English from her.
I appreciate her kindness.

Aaaaaaahh.... So that's what you call it?! I thought there was something fishy going on when I first joined TJP!! (on another account, not this one)
She will indeed be sadly missed. But we have some very happy memories of her.

Yeah, there was some serious flirtage there.
Dammit.
But hey, I now know how much scotch I can drink before I throw up.
All the words I want to use are monosyllabic, and *very* Anglo-Saxon.

This is very, very sad news.
I haven't been on TJP much over the last couple of weeks and am sorry I missed this thread until now.

Don't complain to me that people kick you when you're down. It's your own fault for lying there

Dangit! I get a chance to say Hi and she is gone.
I'm in Guam now, which is nearly shouting distance. I was totally considering going over to visit. She will be missed. We had many fun conversations over skype and im.

Re: Sad news about SS.
I know I'm late coming to this topic, but I've only recently returned to TJP and I only saw this topic last night. I remember SS as being one of those posters who, whenever you saw her name on a post, you knew it would be helpful or fun or full of joy and often all of the above.
At the time I left TJP, she was on the mend, or so I thought. I'm truly saddened to hear this news.

Re: Sad news about SS.
I used to frequent this forum in the past and was communicating with her a lot, so imagine my shock when I stumbled upon this site again and saw this thread. I cannot believe that she has left us already, and it is with regret that I only learnt about this half a year later.
ss always appeared to be a person bursting with energy and keen to learn. I really admire the energy she devoted in learning, as she was holding down a demanding job at the same time. She certainly inspired a few of us that your dreams can come true if you put in the hard work.
It is a shame that she was not able to pass JLPT1, a dream which she did communicate to me on several occasions, and which she would have doubtlessly achieved in due course.
My condolences go out to her family - one of the greatest sadness in life is having to bury your own children.
We worked with coco to translate a piece about butterflies and the struggles in lives they have to get through in order to survive and grow. I hope that in her next life (yes, some of us do believe that), she will overcome all difficulties and become a beautiful butterfly.

Re: Sad news about SS.
Sorry for getting this one out.
Damn, I was off for a couple of years and checked back to TJP a few days ago to read some of the old threads. I just read about the translation of "Change Brings Life" again (and the one where it was translated into several other languages of wich i translated it into german) and was looking at her recent activitys whats she´s doing and then i just found this
I was shocked as i just remembered how nice and friendly she was, I feel bad now
This is indeed very very sad.
