The title basically means I think it was too bad we couldn't discuss a subject
that is actually related to Japan (Everybody knows im talking about the hentaithread). Now U guys are right for closing it down because it wasn't appropriate for all viewers but it still is something thats worth discussing.

I dont mean to start the discussion on that other thread again but this is merely a shout that it sucks:

1)We cant really discuss a big issue like this
2)That some ppl are younger than 16 reading that thread and this one, because its titled "DONT OPEN IF YOURE UNDER 16 YEARS" lol.

it's not really a big important issue.

However, I do think that if they are going to lock threads for not being age appropriate then the admins should go to the forum rules and put a general guideline that we want to keep our site PG rated, not PG 13. Or something to that effect.

yea, Read the faq for the OOC forum. The mods weren't too excited about creating it because of stuff like that. The forum was really created to help us know our forum friends better, not as a place to start controversial ooc debates.

well, what is there to know about hentai or to discuss? i see it as only a big-selling product that's animated or illustrated porn using anime style arts. does that sum it up or do you want to know more? try wikipedia my friend, or make yourself clear to what you REALLY want discuss on the topic of hentai.

I know what you mean Reno. I too at one time I was thinking "they should make one section of the forum for people who have verified they are adults, where matters of an adult nature can be discussed. Not about bad things, but about things that don't concern children and that their parents might not want them reading about."

But it keeps coming back to what Infidel said: the purpose of the forum is largely for discussing Japanese language, and a secondary purpose is just to get to know other users. The forum is not a "discuss every thing you could possibly imagine about Japan."

The forum owners could easily make it a site like that, but they choose not to. I guess the simple fact is it would be more work than benefit so they just keep it a simple "talk about anything having to do with Japan that's appropriate for children" site.

Anyone who has taken anthropology 101 knows that without culture there is no language. Culture dictates language, so we can't talk about Japanese without talking of their culture.

so you are implying hentai is apart of japanese culture?

the thing is, a person that in really big on Hentai in japan, or Porn in america, is not considered a cultured person. So I wouldn't really something that is generally looked down on to be part of it's culture.
