My friend bought this for me in India...
He's a little keychain. My friend said he was a "Screaming Buddha"
Sorry, I had to scan him; and he wouldn't stay in the right position.
He looks a lot like Hotei, the Laughing Buddha (at least in girth), but he is not very happy. His mouth is open in a seeming scream. His eyes are wincing. And he holds his begging bowl above his head. He also does not have a bag.
Does anyone have any information about this little guy. I have a feeling he is not known as the "Screaming Buddha".
I would really appreciate even just a name.
Thanks

It just might be a variation of hotei, they come in various postures and poses. Either that or a guess could be he's not hotei but the Buddha of money and wealth which portrays Buddha holding a 'bowl of plenty' over his head. It's anyone guess right now.
Knowledge is the only salvation for those who seek to exist, otherwise it's just cool.

I almost couldn't find this thread. I though someone had deleted it.
It does look awfully like Hotei. But his face really seems to be in anguish. And he does not have his cloth bag. Which is what "Hotei" means:
布袋 ほてい
布 ほ linen, cloth
袋 てい bag, sack
I'm going to keep on looking.
