Visual kei= basically Japanese trannies who sing :D!

Thanks.

So it's music you look at rather than listen to?

^ Sadly, it can be.

What VisualSesu is the obvious definition of Visual Kei; but its kinda like, they do kind of "dress-up" a lot. Dir en grey are not classified as Visual Kei and do not wish to be, so they have kinda drawn the line. Look at what they look like now and what they did look like in the MISSA-era. I'm sure you'll see the answer for yourself!

Anyways, I like alotta bands.. my top 5 are:
Dir en grey
GazettE
12012
Rentrer En Soi (these dudes are keeping the VK scene alive!)
Ayabie

If the same groups came out doing the same music....but in classy suits (think: Robert Palmer).....would you still be fans?

I'm just trying to understand how much of the fandom is based solely on musical merit and how much is based on associated visual imagery.

^ I would certainly still be a fan.

That is a big issue in Visual Kei~ Image over music. Results in loss of fans and usually leads to dis-banding, unfortunely.

I only like a few, i.e. Gackt, Dir en Grey, Miyavi, Schwarz Stein, X Japan...

Can anyone suggest anymore, since I really want to expand my JRock music?

Alice Nine is pretty good, I just got into them like last week. Gazette's pretty good too. Both of these bands are a bit darker, but they aren't as dark as Dir en Grey so you should be fine.

Also, if you want something funny/cute, An Cafe is pretty good. The guitarist... thinks his a girl... I think... It's kinda funny sometimes lol.
