There are 10 types of people in the world.
Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Hex and binary? Oh my goodness gracious. How many years has it been since I've thought about those?
(realizes he has just dated himself)
As for "woot", someone much younger told me that it stands for "We Owned the Other Team". A Google search indicated a few other possibilities too, such as, "Wow, loot!"
Just yesterday I learned that one's cell phone number is referred to as one's "digits", though the term seems to have some connotations, as in, "Hey baby, can I have your digits?" I also learned yesterday that 11:00 can be called "eleven bells".
I think I'm now officially old.

Don't feel bad Jack, I didn't know any of that. I guess does that mean you 'own' me?

Just depends on your line of work. I think in binary regularly, because it is neccessary for checking network equipment. It is quicker to write in hex, and you can very quickly convert between the two. It takes longer to convert to decimal, and octal just isn't practical for the lengths I work with. (usually 8, 16, or 32 bits)
I've heard of eleven bells being 11 o'clock since I was a little kid. I believe it is a reference to a grandfather clock. (one bell at 1, 2 @ 2...)

That's a lie. How could that ever be an "accident"? Does your keyboard write by itself?
I don't know if that "forgive me" was aimed at me, but I don't have the right to punish you anyway. But I think I have the right to tell you that you should think before you post!!
Now, where's an angry smiley?

I'm locking this thread, as it seems to have passed any modicum of usefulness it once had. John2, next time think before hitting the Post Reply button, or it might be a ban rather than a thread lock you receive.
