One of my teachers told me that radio waves moved at the speed of sound. I remember getting into a heated argument with my dad when he tried to inform me otherwise.

I had the exact same thing happen. Except for "my dad" substitute "Operations Specialist First Class Antrim". Despite havine spent 12 years working with radar he thought it used sound waves. He wasn't at all pleased when Seaman Apprentice Cash informed him otherwise, in front of his peers.

Luckily, I've had the good fortune of going to a good school, so I don't think I've ever had a teacher say some outrageous, stupid thing. Nice stories, though The lack of intelligence of some "teachers" never ceases to amaze me XD

Some more random stuff...like Industrial Revolution...

there was a guy named Malthus. He was a Christian and who had a Jewish friend who he pretended wasn't Jewish and thought about some things came up with this:

Food increases at a linear rate. Population increases at a exponential rate. People have children when there is plenty of food and stop when there is not enough food. So population increases until there isn't enough food and then people starve and die off until there is extra food again. He also noticed that poor people tended to have more children. So he figured out that we must stop giving food to the poor and let them live with just enough to survive in order to curb population increase. His Jewish friend went further and equated food with wages. He said don't raise wages for the poor people. Thats what we have to do.

I guess this idea is better than martin Lutheran's idea of forcing all Jews into working...it seems like all historic economists had a problem with some group of people...

I think it means that i believe that Covenant's religion reminds me of another religion...or it could be something that I found on the internet that fit the requirements as an avatar...

Actually it's usually the opposite - as can be easily seen by a comparison of birth rates in Western vs developing countries.

Yes. It's very common for poor people here to have many children, more than they can maintain. That's one of the reasons you see children working on the street, or begging, just so they and their siblings can eat for the day.

Of course it isn't just as simple as saying "have less children". There are many factors involved - ... but I've just realised that I'm likely to get into a political _and_ a religious argument if I keep typing so I'd better stop.
