It might work on paper but not in real life. There's a reason all these communists countries are rejecting communism more and more each year. Even China has begun privitizing much of its economy.
The official name for the PRC's economy right now is "Socialism with Chinese characteristics." And by Chinese characteristics, of course, they mean Western capitalism.

I think the unofficial policy in Japan is "Nanny State Socialism Masquerading as Free Market Capitalism".

Actually, they do a pretty good job of blending the two. I just wish they'd turn down the Socialism a notch or two.

rules.. rules.... rules.. dammit.. lock this because of all the political crap.. it's all crap.. needs to be in a toilet.. needs to be flushed and quite frankly, pointing out how off topic we are by adding your own off topic rant is pathetic at best and juvenile to boot.

when you said you're getting into a ... you should have said, we are getting into a..... nuf said..

sorry keatonatron, it looks like in your absence a void was created and that void was filled with much crap.. please retake your place in the natural way of things so this crazy ride can be rebalanced..

Takeo Saeki (for me, you'll always be Takeo Saeki), if you put such obvious political references into your username, avatar and signature, people are obviously going to react and you should bear with it.

/bump

Excuse the intrusion but I was attracted by the original post because I just returned from that wonderfully decadent USA as well. But I'd wager no-one here knows who I am anyway so...

Oh and I feel like hurling each time I see an american-communist, mainly because 99% of these people haven't really experienced the joys and woes of communism first-hand. I bet you wouldn't like to be dragged to some cellar, beaten half to death for several weeks and then deported to some uranium mine because someone said that you made a joke about one of the comrades in the politburo. /2 rupees

Ditto everything. Plus, I think the majority of the people on this site come from non-communist countries, and come with non-communist, even anti-communist, political ideas (not that the two neccessarily co-exist for every person). It's to be expected, on an English speaking forum, most people will probably prefer non-comunistic ways over comunistic ways.

Not going into my political thought on communism but... I'm a Libertarian XD

Heh... so much for avoiding politics. I'll go ahead and add, CITF, that it's strange to me that you call your own opinions "beliefs," while opposing opinions are "insults." Kind of a double standard, don'cha think?

Yeah, I guess you're right. すみません。If there's one thing I hate, it's double standards. My apologies.

It's communism as much as waterboarding
evil doers in secret prisons at post Soviet
countries etc. is freedom and human rights.

Yes, I think this is straying too far into forbidden territory and is unlikely to return to whether or not anyone actually missed what's-his-name.
