What do they teach kids today?!

Postby Hatori » Fri 08.03.2007 4:15 pm

Hello. As I was surfing Youtube with one of my buds, we decided to type in a serious but oftenly joked around subject:
POOP.
And what do my little blue eyes find while scrolling down the page?

I saw this video a while ago... I still love it! おしっこ!
Sometimes I think that I'm afraid of thinking, and that scares me.

Seems very similar to books my parents got me when I was 3 or 4 that showed kids how to use the toilet. Nothing too unusual IMO.

HA HA HA!

That was such a laugh! Am i the only one who finds that slightly odd? Or is it here, in Scotland, that we don't get taught things like that?

It's been posted on this site before :D

Probably why there aren't very many replies...

If kids in Japan see this on TV everyday, this is just plain torture. O_O

EDIT:
Mike, I watch this video about a month ago with my friends and we nearly... Burst our lungs from laughter.

My guess is that it's either a parody/fake comedy show, or a late-night show. The idea that Japanese TV is "crazy" comes mostly from out-of-context video clips from late-night TV shows, spread by people who can't understand the Japanese (I've seen more than one so-called "crazy Japanese TV" clip that is perfectly mundane if you understand what the people are saying). Since everyone "knows" that Japanese people are crazy they just eat it up.

I think the video actually comes from "Gaki no Tsukai Yaarahende!" which is famous for its over-the-top 罰(ばつ)ゲーム that the loser(s) of whatever other games there are in the episode have to do. However, I don't know which episode it came from so I don't know what game in particular the unfortunate タレント in the video lost at...^^;;

Though, yeah, like Yudan Taiteki said, a lot of the "crazy" clips either come from late-night shows, are old (for instance there are still many people who upload clips of Bob Sapp on variety shows despite the fact that his 15 minutes of fame have long passed), are taken out of context (like the above-linked 罰ゲーム clip), or are misunderstood as being from TV when they are not.

An example of one misunderstood video I came across is this video. It was claimed that this is an insurance commercial, however, the very last frame proves otherwise. As I found out by going to the sites listed in that frame, it is a viral marketing ad for the movie "Tsubakiyama-kachou no Nanokakan" which came out last year, and it was never shown on TV, nor is it an insurance commercial (for one thing, a real insurance CM would not have its tagline in English).

I just love those TV shows and things that people say are "crazy" and all. I know that half the stuff we see on TV (And I don't even have cable television and I'm saying this!) is basically stupid in America. I just love posting stupid little things, though. ;)
I wonder what the Japanese think of when they watch Survivor or Fear Factor. Same thing with the Bachelor. :p
