EDICT is a man named Jim Breen's free dictionary project:

He and countless volunteers have worked on it for years. It is totally free and is what drives most databased kanji/vocab searches on Japanese websites. (but not here at TJP)

EDIT: Interesting it is supposed to be TJP ) but I will leave it like that since the pirate looks happy there...

I am having trouble with this phrase:

刃のきみあわせ方

I believe that あわせ　can mean joint or facing. きみ=気味　can be sensation or feeling and
刃 is a blade

My guess is it is something like "the fine edged tooling of the joints."

In any case he seems to be praising the workmanship.

Please help.

Coco-san is right, you have a typo.
刃のかみあわせ方が他のタイプのものちょっと違うんです。
The way in which the blades meet is slightly different from other types.

I am sorry to waste your time. I actually misread the kana and typed what I misread.

Rikaichan defines かみあわせ　噛み合わせ as the meshing of gears. It is also used for the occlusion of teeth.

Interestingly, 噛むis a verb to bite, to chew, to gnaw, to gear with.

This kanji is the kanji for mouth with the kanji for teeth. Sometimes Japanese is so logical it is almost frightening.
