Online Japanese Game

Does anybody remember that online japanese game that was posted on thejapanesepage.com's frontpage? It had a link to a website where you downloaded the game (about a gig or two) and had to click a blue bubble or something on their website to start playing the game... or something like that... Does anybody remember the the of that game? It was free and there was an english and japanese version. ありがとうございます。

I finally got EQ2 to work in Japanese, so I'm tenatively taking a few steps with that starting yesterday.

EQ2 means EverQuest II right?

@juddcarlos, while Trikster is a good game and learning opertunity, it is very unstable on a lot of computers, you need IE6 so if you upgraded to IE7 it wont work. And it crashes alot, many people have found out the hard way, DO NOT have any other programes open while running trickster.

Beware of Outlook, it tends to crash your computer when it is opened after Trickster.


The Japanese version is a lot better and safer.

Yes, Everquest 2. I already know how to play the game in English and how the interface and everything works. So it should reduce many of the headaches of using a game to improve my language skills.

Trickster is free, EQ2 is not. But $14.99/month hardly breaks my bank and saves me from buying 2 $60 games a month.

Because of my somewhat sorely lacking Japanese skills, I have a hard time reading a lot of the Japanese version. I'm at level 29 right now, but it's getting a little frustrating trying to figure out things like the complicated quests, or what spells to buy.

I have a character on the American English game as well, and I had been using that to get a feel for the game, but it's also a bit frustrating to have to play through everything twice. heh

Anyway... just curious who might still be playing? I'd guess that if people here still are, they're probably far beyond me in level.

I used to try the Japanese version of Trickster, which was a bit different from the european version. I dont know if it's always that way with any mmorpg. It was fun, playing alone hehe... I got qiete far despite knewing not much japanese for the quests...

@phreadom: used to play it and may play again, but at @Games, I have no idea if it is the same game server like trickster.jp at all.

I found a list of free Japanese online games here, for those who want to add some game play into their Japanese practice. At least some of these are flash games; I haven't explored it enough to find out if any are MMORPGs.

Maybe we can organize some kind of a group in which we decide which Japanese MMORPG to play once in a while. Well, it's an idea that may not work, because of the people with rather limited knowledge of Japanese (including myself).

The idea sounds a bit too funny, does it?


But man Japan REALLY has an amazing variety of MMOG's, it makes me want to play some of them again!
