Until The Lights Come Back
大停電の夜に
This is one of those movies that I can watch over and over again.
It involves several characters:
A couple that is on the verge of a divorce; an old woman that hears from the son she had to give up at birth; an ex-con looking up his loved one that has started a life of her own and is about to give birth to a second child; the owner of a jazz bar that has decided to quit his place in a back alley and take his mistress to NY. But will she leave her husband?
A young boy spots a girl that is appears to be attempting suicide.
Two people together in an elevator.
And then there is a massive black-out in Tokyo, due to a striking comet.
Needless to say, most of the storylines are intertwined at some point in the movie.
It actually took me a couple of times before I fully inderstood all the lines. And it's great to get to understand more and more of the other lines as well (the Japanese)
And even though I'm basically not a jazz lover, the movie has some great music and the tune at the end always makes me want to dance.
If you love a good movie that is about people and their lives, I can definitely recommend this one
