I am "most likely" going to buy Hana Yori Dango season one drama. I am wondering, however, how badly they subtitled it. Does anyone know how much swearing is involved in the non-"fan"subbed version? I really hate it when they kill it with swearing. I would really like to know before I buy it!

then why did you say you were buying the season 1 anime and how badly it (the anime) was subtitled? You might want to edit your OP then to make it more clear.

Official Japanese J-drama DVD releases are usually Region 2, expensive, and have no foreign-language subtitles whatsoever. This is probably the same for the HYD J-drama too. DVDs of J-dramas with English subtitles that are sold on EBay and other such places are most often either
A) bootlegs or
B) the fansubs on a DVD-R. Fansubbers are very angry when people sell their fansubs, and so they do not condone purchasing these sorts of "DVDs".

There aren't any official Region 1 releases of any J-dramas, unfortunately, unlike with anime, J-movies or K-dramas...so doinkies would probably not consider buying those DVDs...
