Board time&date settings

Postby hyperconjugated » Thu 02.28.2008 6:12 am

I was wondering if the forums' time&date settings could be set like it was on the old TJP.
Eg. today would be 28.02.2008 12:06 instead of 28 Feb 2008 12:06 pm. I know I can
switch it from my personal settings but for most of the time I just read the forums without
logging in. I think it was more "global" setting than the present one.

Clayさんはshoutboxでの質問対応で当分の間忙しいと思うので、あちらにひとまとめにしておきました。失礼があればお許しを。

ところで、hyperさんの「ヨーコを連れてこないで」の書き込みには吹き出してしまいました。

That's what is "normal" here. I always get weirded out seeing 23/2/08 or whatever here instead of the more familiar 2/23/08.

No matter what the default is set to, somebody is going to find it strange, because we have a global user base, and standards vary from country to country.

As long as you use a 4 digit year, I don't care what format the date is in. Depending on what I am doing, I see DDMMYYYY, YYYYMMDD, and MMDDYYYY all the time. I just hate dates before the twelveth of the month.

Kind of a related topic.

I think if there is a calender(? indicates current time) on the main page(Drupal), it would be more convenient. The old site had it above the login box.

Also this might be an easy way to know if we need to refresh the page or not.

YYYY-MM-DD removes the strangeness for all parties. This is also the format used in Japan right?

While I am logging-in forums, time is shown DD-(Three letters) MMM- YYYY as UTC/GMT.
e.g. 05 Mar 2008 10:06 am
When I browse the forums without logging-in, EST is shown.
e.g. Wed 03.05.2008 6:06 am

Your personal logged in profile must be set like 05 Mar 2008 10:06 am

I did set the global date to be displayed like this: Wed 03.05.2008 6:06 am
(someone suggested it like that)

But anyone can change it in his (or her) profile.
