New Poll Ideas

Postby clay » Wed 06.11.2008 7:12 am

One thing is for sure: Clay isn't good at coming up with poll ideas. Can someone help him out?

Please post any ideas for posts here for site-wide polls.

Do you mean serious things like: "What grammar points should be covered next in the lessons?"
or silly getting-to-know-each-other things like: "What's your favorite kind of sushi?"

I suppose anything would be better than nothing, but it would need 4-6 choices for the answer. I would rather not get too silly, but sushi is fair game.

Tony thinks writing in third person is cool. But Tony is like that. Tony needs professional help.

Chikara finds people that write in the third person very annoying. Chikara is currently very annoyed with himself.

Clay thinks it is hard to believe that 83% of those responding to the above poll really mean that.

Let's go with the sushi idea. What are the top 5-6 kinds of sushi? Inarizushi... (Clay likes inarizushi)

EDIT: Clay thinks Chikara (probably) voted and now the poll is at a more reasonable 71% (whew)

Becki loves sushi and thinks the following kinds are probably the most popular:

まぐろ
サーモン
えび
イカ
タコ
たまご
あなご
かっぱ巻き

まぐろ
サーモン
えび
イカ
タコ
たまご
あなご
かっぱ巻き

Sounds good. What no いなりずし? It isn't 'sushi' enough?

I'll add トロ Tuna and イクラ Salmon roe.

EDIT: Poll added.

I don't really eat fish so please check the English:
まぐろ (Tuna)
(Salmon)
えび (Shrimp)
(Squid)
(Octopus)
(Egg)
(Eel)
(Kappa Roll)
(Fatty part of Tuna)
(Salmon roe)
(Inarizushi)

Actually I LOVE おいなりさん too, but sine they're so easy to make at home, I never bother to get them when I go out to the local sushi-go-round.

By the way, what does everyone else call 回転寿し in English? I call it sushi-go-round and I'm trying to spread the term to my friends, but what other English variations are there?

Edit: I would go with cucumber roll for かっぱ巻き. I've actually met some Japanese people who didn't know why it was called

The poll hasn't been up 10 seconds and amazingly there is already one vote for inarizushi. Hmmm...

And one vote for たまご as well. I wonder who that could have been. :D

Here it is always called うなぎ and I saw that in Japan also. Is あなご more common in some places?

I think they are different kinds of eels. Let's check:

WWWJDIC says :
穴子; 海鰻(oK) 【あなご】 (n) garden eel; conger eel (esp. the common Japanese conger, Conger myriaster)

鰻 【うなぎ】 (n) (uk) eel (esp. the Japanese eel, Anguilla japonica)
