どんだけ〜(≧∇≦)/ ハハハ
Happy New Year みんなさん!
I´ve just got a doubt here.
Does the english language has an expression that would be translated to the so usual today in Japan DONDAKEEEE ?(* ̄∇ ̄*)エヘヘ
Since I´ve learned dondakee I can´t stop to use it, sometimes like a baka T___T" So I want to learn how to say it in english
And for who don´t know: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%81%A9%E3%82%93%E3%81%A0%E3%81%91%E3%80%9C

Funnily enough, I just posted this link earlier this week. It seems this song is catching on big time. I still hate it though xD

[/url]Ikko, Dondake~!
Again, this is probably not a phrase most people, especially foreigners usually run around saying. Unless you're like this guy... er, girl... then go right ahead. xD

Actually, どんだけ was the number 2 (or 3, I can't remember) most popular catch phrase of 2007. There are many MANY people who were running around saying it.
Also, as it got its start as a saying among the Japanese gay population, there were a number of people who were saying it even before it became famous.
As for translating it into English, I think it's just one of those things that doesn't translate very well.

どんだけ (exp) (See どれだけ) what a ..... (word used to show strong emotion, emphasis, punchlines, etc.)
(from http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi- ... dic.cgi?1F)
I never heard this word before, so I'm not sure if I'm right. For example: "What a big house!" 「大きい家どんだけよ!」
or "What a party [I'm so tired now]!" 「パーティーどんだけだったよ![今とても眠いだ]」
It's not said very much and I don't know if my Japanese examples made a lot of sense, but I attempted.

I have to admit that I wonder if Japanese students of foreign languages are ferklemt about not knowing how to translate "whack fol the diddle o the die do day" or "sing rumpety tumpety tum" or even "shama lama ding dong."

I remember the time a Japanese poster was asking for help understanding some rap lyrics over at Tae Kim's forum. We had to tell him that they didn't make any sense.

On the whole, I think that's a valid assessment of ALL rap.
