Netbook

I'm thinking about buying a netbook and I am currently torn between these two models. On one hand the HP is more visually appealing to me and it comes with windows xp, but the ACER has a larger HD and comes with Windows 7 starter edition. Also if I buy the ACER I'm not sure if I could install Japanese support, from what I've read this feature is only available in Windows 7 ultimate. What say you TJP? What is the right netbook for me

What do you mean by 'Japanese Support?'
If you're talking about reading and writing Japanese on the laptop, then all versions of Windows are supposed to be supported (I don't know about starter, as I've never used it, but I can't imagine that they removed that feature)
If you're talking about the MLUI (Multi-lingual User Interface) where you can change your UI into the target language, than yes, you do need Ultimate for that -- but I think that's really a fringe case, no? You couldn't do that in XP either without buying the MLUI Pack, which I believe was OEM-only.

Re: Netbook
Any version can read and TYPE japanese. But if you're using the handwriting recognition tool, then you need ultimate edition as well.
なるほど。
