Since I'm a fan of L'Arc~en~ciel and HYDE, I'd recommend their songs. haha. Actually, other than that, you might like to try Gackt although I kind of feel that his music falls under the catergory of 'acquired taste'. I love it now but it took me a few listenings to get used to it. I think Utada Hikaru has an awesome voice so you could try her. ^^ Oh yea...and I've recently taken a liking to FAKE?, so perhaps you might want to try them out as well. ^^

GACKT-SAMA!!!!!

Lol sorry I just had to shout that out. I dont like his slow music much, its too depressing for me. I would recommend his faster tunes ^_^.
Also...

- The FLARE (They are new but oh so cool)
- L'arc en Ciel
- Field of View (kinda old but real good classics)
- Dir en Grey all the way!
- X Japan
- Glay
- Plastic Tree!!

Can't think of anymore for now. :D

Ok well as this post hasn't dissapeared yet like the last one I suppose I'll say what I've been listening to.

Dreams Come True
Aiko
Dragon Ash
Gackt
Ayumi Hamasaki
Glay

I have more but these are the ones I'm listening to more at the moment.

Check out http://www.shoutcast.com and search for japan. Good place to listen to Japanese music. Some of the stations do current music charts too etc. Thats how I heard of DCT, Aiko and Gackt and lots of others.

A similar post came up on the 'Culture and Info about living in Japan' forum.
BoA was mentioned there too and I said:
"just a note... BoA is a Korean singer tho isn't she? Though she is still nice to listen tho. I saw her when searching for 'Boa' (ye just the last letter not caps). That was a bit of a pain cuz I couldn't download much to listen. I got some in the end and bought albums. Ah that's English music anyway. If you have ever watched 'Lain' the opening scene's music is by Boa."
It's been a long time since I listened to any of it though so I may be wrong.

A little clarification on BoA:

Her real name is Bo A Kwan {last name probably spelled wrong}

She sings in Korean, Japanese, English, and Chinese { this last one she mumbles really , more than sings ;-)

More people know her from her Inuyasha song "every heart"

Boa is the name of an English band, which did the Lain theme song. And yes, everyone gets these two confused -- in fact, I bought my first BoA album thinking she was the Lain Singer, so you are not alone in being fooled.

Actually, being fooled in this case is a good thing, as the British band isn't very good thing beyond the Lain song and BoA is an international superstar who is consistently good. Can't say I ever regretted getting the wrong BoA in this case and I don't think anyone else would either :-)
Click below daily or a bunch of starving people will come to your house to eat you!(Either way, problem solved :-)
