The reference is 'Linkword- Japanese- Level One- by Michael W Gruneberg-1982. Not sure where he found it. Maybe that it's a 'trial' and you're supposed to buy it. I recommend it tho if you can find it.
Hope it helps.

I have 'My first 1000 words' books too but in english and french. It's great! A kids book but it's nice to learn from because of the way it is all illustrated.
The website for that is good too. Having pronunciations help too.
I might just buy that book too hehe.
I think I'll leave it at home though or I'll look weird haha.
Yeah, Mariya, I just searched a few words and got tons of different choices hehe.
Just to give you an example of the dictionary (as it looks) I'll use... The word 'everyone' you used (みんな):
"みんな > みな"
[so I looked for みな:]
"みな - X noun
- = everyone
- = everything"
[Note: The X = a kanji symbol which I can't type yet.]
And from the other side of the dictionary...
"everyone pronoun (also everybody)
= みんな - X Note that on formal occasions みな is used.
everyone else = ほかのみんな - XのX"
I think I'll manage, after I get my own dictionary, and I always have you guys to ask and get help from. So if I'm confused on what words to use, I'll ask you! Is that okay, Kodi?

There are too many features to list, but simply put you can just type in some romanized version of what you think the word might be and it will still turn up results. This is easily the definitive English site for learning Japanese with countless conjugation/example/explanation charts.
