Does anyone have any advice on finding a good summer study abroad program?
I am currently a college student, and my major is demanding enough that I will not be able to take advantage of my school's excellent semester and year long study abroad for credit programs, but I really want to do anything I can to improve my Japanese; so I'm looking at summer programs.
I have been studying the language for about 5 years now and have completed 3rd year college Japanese. I'm looking for a program that is serious about learning and improving fluency, but also takes advantage of being in Japan and surrounded by native speakers. If I just want intensive classes it's a lot less expensive to study in the US, but I don't want to go to japan just to have fun and 'yay be in a foreign country!'.
I would appreciate any advice you can give me on either specific programs, how to evaluate different programs, or how to get the most benefit from studying in Japan.
Thank you very much for your time.
