As for me, I learn 15-30 words a day or every 2 days(including kanji)
Reasons are optional.

My goal is 70 words a week, but unfortunately it's usually lower as I procrastinate horribly.

So you learned hiragana in one week? Nice.
Good luck mastering katakana(its actually easier than hiragana coz the characters are boxy).

Hmmm I still need to set the amount of words I learn, I'm not sure of how many it can be...

All I know is that 70 is a LOT! :o

I don't really think of my study this way. If I tried counting the words I've learned it would probably just distract me. (Or disappoint me more when I've had a bad week!)

i'm trying to learn at least five new words a day, along with reinforcing the ones I already know.

Personnally, I feel like the emphasis should not be put on simply memorizing vocabulary words. I find that reading and writting (chat room, IM, pen pals, etc.) is way more fun and effective without having to go though 'official' studying (and it's more motivating IMO). That way you actually learn a lot about the language, how it's talked and you develop abilities to think in Japanese over time.

For instance, you may learn that the noun 「必要」 means 'need'. But would you be able to use it in a sentence? Every time I come across a word or grammar pattern I feel is important, I note it down and once in a while, I go thought that file. Vocab just sinks in over time.

fuasu,

But at some point, you do have to just sit down and start memorizing words. I try not to count how many words I do in a set amount of time, but I try to finish a pack of Word Cards that I buy at the 百金 once a week. About 70 cards to a pack. It would be nice if I could pick up all those words from conversation, but it's just not going to happen at a good rate. I find the best way is to read, listen and talk, and every time you get a new word, put it in your wordcard set.

But now I:m just rambling. To bed! It is late and I desire the sleep!

thats becos harisenbon is a super genius :) and i agree with daichi, i find i dont really number what i learn cos that would distract me from what i was learning. besides, there are alot of stuff that you learn that cannot be numouralised(sp?) such as grammar and expressions.

And learning in a practical way such as actually chatting to other people in japanese is a amazing way to gain knowledge of things a text book couldnt explain!
