I love most of them although I like Korean HF better. My favourite? Suicide club - highly entertaining :)

It's not a traditional horror film. If you like David Lynch, you'll enjoy "Gozu" by Takashi Miike. It is most rewarding.

i dont think the americans do it on purpose, but alot of japanese films use japanese history and culture in them, the americans (unfortunatly) change this to make it marketable in america and the western world, ruining the film.

well, horror films from korean and japan seems to be more popular than the western ones in this area.. i guess people here just like to be scared for no reason, even they don't understand what the whole storyline is.

I've come to really like Japanese horror recently. I have to agree about the Americans changing the atmosphere though. Dark Water seemed completely different after we got a hold of it >_>;

Has anyone else seen Uzumaki though? Though it wasn't really scary, I thought it was pretty amusing.

I agree, I just didn't feel The Ring, I liked The Grudge better although I still wouldn't say it's one of my faves.

I saw Uzumaki a month ago, very stylish, I liked it! :)

Battle Royale was O.K, I loved Dark Water (the original) and I really want to see Shibito no Koiwazurai but I can't find it anywhere :|

yea...ain't you feel that the dark waters are totally different?
i've even get feedbacks that says it's a touching one.
anyway, what's the purpose of having the film to be reproduce by the americans?
and i don't really understand why the media's exaggerately titled them as "the most horrifying movie.."etc.
of course, i don't mean to say their films are bad. but i just don't understand why are they doing it in this kindda way..

the ring seems to be a kindda old film in japan. i don't feel it very interesting though. it's not THAT scary.
as for the grudge, whoa, it became the hottest topic here when it's out. actually..the crawling thing is kindda discusting, haha. that freaks most of the peeps.^^.
the director's simply Creative.haha. to freak out everyone in that kindda way
