Postby shiyoraider » Wed 10.05.2005 1:34 am

i want to memorize all the alt codes so i can talk to japanese people when i play japanese MMO's, and also be able to translate text....

if anyone can help that'd be great, because i've been searching for hours and can't find a table with all the alt codes T_T~

thankies muchlies~

edit- i believe it's the alt codes for the EUC-JP charset..

I don't believe there actually are alt codes for Japanese. I believe you just need to install the IME to be able to type in Japanese.. However, the MMO that you use will also need to be able to support the codepage that you're using, or else use Unicode.

There are.. I found out the charset starts with 0166, and they're really small, and then it goes from there. I just don't have an alt table.. T_T ah well..

A quick word of warning, many North American or European versions of games (including some multi-player games such as World of Warcraft) do not support Japanese characters, regardless of whether or not they're accepted by the operating system. As for Alt codes, stop looking, it's a waste of time. They do exist, but they're spread out quite far, and there are far too many characters to memorize. ;)

Instead, change your Language and Regional settings (for Windows users, that's in the Control Panel). You'll need to make sure that you have the checkbox for East Asian language support checked; then, make sure that your keyboard is set up properly and that the IME is active, then start typing away in Japanese; this includes hiragana, katakana, and kanji. You may need your Windows XP CD handy if you don't have an OME version, or if you hadn't initially installed East Asian language support.

Oh my God, I love クラビテーツヨン (Gravitation); and if you don\'t love it too, then you\'re crazy! I mean, just look at Shuichi-kun! I could die! I seriously could! [dies]
