What to focus on.
What to focus on.
Hey! I've been learning a bit a Japanese since last year but, now I'm planning on getting more serious about my studies. I want to study at least 1 hour a day. I would like some suggestions on how to spend the time. What should I focus on the most, lettering, grammar or vocabulary?

What do you know now? We are starting a study group, which you can read about here:

I know about half of Hirigana, some Kanji, about 20 words and some grammer. But, I'm thinking of just starting from scratch because I hardly remember the Hirigana::pDaisuke wrote:

Hmm sounds a little like me. I am mainly self taught but I have a short lesson (30 mins) usualy each week. I don't have that book thought I'm studying from Mirai Coursebook 1 (http://www.pearsoned.com.au/schools/sea ... 0733904254). It's not perfect for me, I feel that it is aimed at people younger than me but it does the job well. Some parts are great and as it aims at younger people it doesn't skip anything so you don't get left too confused. It is good on the parts which require you to remember things too with usefull pictures etc. It is however set out too much like a school text book for my liking tho hehe. Good book though. Oh, and it even has a red plastic overlay which can go over pages and were there are things written in hirigana, the romanji just under it becomes invisible as it is red too. That way you can try to read through things with no help then take away the overlay and check how you did. A great idea!

damn have you guys started the lessons already? coz i wanna join but on the other hand i don't want to study to much coz i have an arabic exam in a few months and i really don't want to screw it
...maybe i can join u every now and then? can u tell me what was in the first lesson?

RE: What to focus on.
Check the studygroup topic. There is a link to the site. It should be easy to find the first lesson from there.
RE: What to focus on.
No offence, but I like to work at a fairly high pace, a lot faster than the site. I'm thinking about spending 15 minutes for each vocabulary, grammer, lettering and culture. How does that sound?
RE: What to focus on.
Well, it was just a suggestion... Good luck with your studies.
