Can anyone tell me if there is a website out there that will allow LEGAL music downloads of Japanese MP3's? I find listening to Jpop and other Japanese lyrics help me out with learning the language.

There is this site where you download .zip files that are disguised as .jpg files. Just change the extension to .jpg and open the zip and there is the mp3 inside, safe 'n sound. I think it's legal because youre downloading a jpg, not an mp3. I got 'Be my Angel' from Angelic Layer.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the site.

The file is still, in essence, an mp3, right? You're fooling yourself if you think that's legal. -_- If you are getting music that is not available for free downloading by way of the artist/owner/whatever, then it's illegal. It's as simple as that.

itunes now has a japanese music store, so you can find legal downloads right through the itunes program. but personally, i don't understand how anyone could pay good money for an intangible digital copy with sound quality noticeably less than a cd....

To bad you're not closer to LA, Chicago or NYC. All three have a Mitsuwa Marketplace, with an Asahiya Bookstore. Great for getting music. You can order from amazon.co.jp, but shipping fees are awful. Do you know anyone in Japan would could mail you the music you want??
