Here's a text RPG, all in Japanese, available for download free of charge. The download is about 2.4 Meg. Might be the sort of thing the OP is looking for.

I own about 55 Super Famicom games (the japanese SNES). Got it from a friend of a friend who went to Japan, it turned out quite cheap. Unfortunatly my level of japanese isnt very good. Sometimes I can read and understand easily, to my big surprise. But most of the time I have to look up every kanji and word. So I decided to give it a break and maybe wait maybe a year, depending on my progress, before going back on them, especially the rpgs.
