I just wasn't quite sure what it means to say that a kanji doesn't mean what it looks like it means. That would seem to describe most kanji, if I'm understanding the sentiment correctly.

Reading Debu's comment. He's talking about structurally. 大 = man > 犬 = man with bird on wrist > 太 = man with no problems getting dates.

Anyway, I was tempted to mention 出, but I decided to go a bit more "mainstream" and let you guys' imagination fly with this (albeit a bit more abstract) gem: 婪.
