Not sure this entirely deserves a new thread - apologies if i'm posting in the wrong place.
I've been wondering for quite some time how you would say my name in Japanese.
My name is Claire, so it's a bit tricky really.
I was thinking something along the lines of カレル, but I'm not sure

I think クレア would be more typical.

if you have the option, and have a Japanese speaker around. say your name in english, have them repeat it and have them show you how to write that in katakana. baring that, richv's is commonly acceptable.

Another thing you can do is go to Wikipedia and look up the article of an actor/actress who shares your name and then click the 日本語 button to the left and see what the katakana is.
