"あなたのアドバイスのおかげで" grammar help?

Hi everyone! This is just a quick question regarding the "の" in this sentence. I received a letter from my friend in Japan, which says this:

"スカイらへ、
こんにちは！それから、メリークリスマス！お手紙を出すのか遅れてごぬんなさい。
あなたの文通相手になれて、とてもうれしいです。そして、あなたの手助けに本当に感謝しています。
あなたのアドバイスのおかげで、英語のスきリをのばすことができました！
私のことばもあなたの日本語の勉強の助けになればいいなと思います。
日本ではとても寒くな、てきました。
ニュウジイランドではどうですか？
健康に気をつけて、かぜをひかないようにしてね。
お返事を楽しみにしています。

It was originally written out, and you have no idea how long it took me to find and use all of those Kanji correctly.

Anyway, in the letter, he writes "あなたのアドバイスのおかげで"... I know it basically means "thank you for your advice", or "thanks to your advice", but I don't know how the "の" works between "アドバイス" and "おかげで". I know "の" usually works as a possessive form... so how is it used in this sentence? "Thanks of your advice"? "To give thanks of your advice"? I have no idea. I know it should be simple enough, but I really want to learn the proper and common functions of the particles. Thanks, mates!

おかげ as a noun basically means "aid and comfort".
So you could see it like this:

I could improve my English skills "by" - (the power of)“the aid and comfort” –of- “your advice”.

And because this phrase expresses a sense of gratitude, it is usually translated as "thanks to".

etc? They seem to be written correctly in the kana only version below. I didn't bother going through the rest of the kana/kanji version.

If that's the case, Schyler-san might want to be careful to make sure to be careful about mixing katakana/hiragana (I'm guessing the IME is being naughty?). And the ぬ in ごめんなさい could just be a typo?

I was talking about な、て instead of なって and ニュウ instead of ニュー, but スキリshould be スキル.

Definitely, keep up the good work. But always keep an eye out for typos. They're very easy to make and even even easier to overlook.
