Making a list of both phrases and nouns

Postby redfeathers » Mon 01.27.2014 4:31 am

I feel like this should be fairly obvious, but it's stumping me.

I want to make a sentence listing a mix of nouns and verb phrases; in English something like: "the novel's themes include emotional alienation, struggling with one's duty to one's family, feeling trapped in one's living situation" etc. It's that nominalized phrase, "being", "struggling", etc, that's giving me trouble.

Would I use の in a list like this? ということ?

I'd probably use verb dictionary form + こと.
