"To lost patience?" conjugation

Post by jonathanjostar » Mon 12.15.2014 10:13 pm

I would like to learn about the syntax in this phrase "待ちきれなくなったのかい?".

How is "machi kirenaku" constructed from "machi"?

What does it mean when a question ends in "かい"?

Thank you.

待つ is the root verb, plus 切れる (= something cuts out)

When two verbs form a compound like this, the first verb is put in the 'masu' stem (in this case, 待ち)

かい is a casual, colloquial variation of か

Let me know if you'd like more details :D
