2 phrases often heard...

Post by Cherie061403 » Tue 12.20.2005 4:46 pm

There are 2 phrases I keep hearing in Dramas and animes. I can't make out exactly how they are pronounced.

The first one is something like: naniateno What are you doing is subtitled.

The second is something like: naniteno What are you saying is the subtitle.

Can someone tell me if I have these written correctly. Thanks in advance! These have been bothering me for some time. ^_^

The first is "nani yatten no" or sometimes "nan yatten no"-- colloquialized from "nani wo yatte iru no (desu ka)?". "Yaru," of course, is an equivalent verb to "suru."

The second is "nani itten no" -- from "nani itte iru no (desu ka)?". "Itte" is, of course, "Iu," to say.
