Post by kaywala » Sat 12.31.2005 12:35 pm

^^ Hi, well I'm trying to pronounce these two but I'm having a hard time with saying tsu. When I played both of their sounds....they sounded the same to me x_x Anyone's advice is appreciated ^^

Tsu sounds like su just it has a th sound attached to it for example: tsunami. Try putting your tounge on the tip of your front teeth, lightly keep it there and say su. It should sound a little like when you say "Psh...". I hope that helps maybe someone else can help you more.
Goals:
1) Have decent proficiency in Japanese, enough to get around/talk/read/write.
2) Visit Japan for a week or so one summer.

I got 2 english words for ya that might help.

pats

pass

The difference you hear in these words is the same as the one between tsu and su.

I hope that helps some, I don't really know how to describe it otherwise...
