"nga" and "ga"

Post by Ady001 » Fri 03.25.2005 1:00 am

I've noticed this sometime in JPOP. Is it correct to pronounce "GA" as nga? (tongue touches throat)

It's dependent on the speaker, actually. I'm not sure if it's just individual preference or cultural influence... I stick to "ga", though. It simplifies things. :p I can pronounce "nga", though. I'm just not used to it.

Me, I'd only say "nga" if there's an "n" before a "ga." Makes things easier.

My Japanese teacher (native speaker) says 'ga' like that sometimes. Makes it hard to understand her, but then I don't get her English, either.
