What is this Kanji?

Can anyone tell me what this means? I saw this tattoo on a women...sorry for the poor drawing..i did it in paint in 2 seconds.

I would say it looks like tree but it was curvy when I saw it on her so it looks a bit diff :/. Meh.

I believe you are correct. That should be the symbol for "Ki" meaning "tree".

That just makes me more weirded out...why would you have a tattoo of "tree"...was there nothing cool to scar your body with?

Yup, that is the kanji for 'ki'. It may not look EXACTLY like it but that is the kanji for 'tree'(ki). A kanji can usually be formed in different ways but still look somewhat like how its supposed to be. Kind of like how people do their A's differently.
So mainly if the kanji resembles another kanji that you know, than its probably it.

Theres always the chance that its just someone who thought it'd be cool to have something Japanese as a tattoo, not caring exactly what it meant.

As for the font things, or whatever, like he said he just used the "Paint" program and made it quickly, so its just that.

I often wonder about people who get kanji tatoos. One night some friends of mine and I were out in LA and we dropped by a tatoo parlour. I was a bit drunk, but sober enough to walk out when I realized some of the kanji in their test portraits were wrong. And it was simple stuff like the kanji for 'fire' was wrong, stuff like that. And there are a couple of brands of fancy sleepwear that have absolutely butchered "yume". I'm thinking they can trademark a symbol that is slightly different from the accurate character.

Well, it works other ways though...

While the westerner goes the Kanji wrong, the Japanese oftentimes write some things in English wrong.

You mean like in a few Japanese songs they stick in random English words? Someone was saying they heard stuff like "garage" "streetlight" and "automatic" in some. funny to hear. XD

I hear english in Japanese songs all the time lol. It's funny cos you don't expect it e.g. "blah blah blah blah MARATHON!!! blah blah blah UNISON!!!)

Well, something like that anyway. I've heard a few songs fully sung in English (by Japanese ppl) or should I say Engrish XD.
