から and に

The following are two sentences from my textbook, I'm wondering if から and に are interchageable in those cases?

銀行からお金を借りました。 (I borrowed money from the bank)
先生に借りた本を亡くしました。　(I lost the book I borrowed from my teacher)

Yes. either will be correct.

銀行からお金を借りました。or 銀行にお金を借りました。
先生に借りた本を亡くしました。or 先生から借りた本を亡くしました。

The first one is to die, the second one is to lose.

Nakama 2 states, in regards to もらう and いただく,

The giver is marked by the particle に or から. The particle に indicates the source from which the gift originates. In cases where the giver is an institution such as 大学 rather than a human being, the particle から must be used; use of に implies that the speaker feels close to the giver.

Whether that applies to 借る it doesn't say.
