「いま、会いにゆきます」質問

Post by Musiflare » Wed 12.31.2008 1:56 pm

読み練習のために「いま、会いにゆきます」という本を読み始めましたけど、分かりにくいから、こんな問題があるんです。

「ぼくは、半分眠りの世界に戻りかけているゆうじの手を取ってアパートを出た。」

I think I have the gist of the beginning of the sentence, but mainly what is throwing me off is the use of "手を取って". Is it some kind of saying?

Thanks in advance.

I don't really understand why you are thrown off by that.
手を取る is pretty literal in translation.
It just means to take/grab the hand(of someone)

In an emergency I left my aparment and grabbed the hand of someone as i returned to the half asleep world

putting it in japanese is hard.

ahhh.
my bad

有事=in an emergency

yuu ji

however, it's no not ni.
so it'd be a name of something or someone...

yuuji ni in an emergency.

yuuji no te

Yuuji's hand.

okay...

By the way, you can't use にくい like this. It can only be attached onto the end of verbs to show that something is difficult to do. The normal word for hard or difficult is 難しい.

分かりにくい would work as well, following your lead :D

Note that "returning to the half asleep world" describes Yuuji (the person whose hand is being grabbed) and not "I".

That translation is a bit off.

First of all, starting to return to the halfsleeping world is Yuuji, not "I"..
Also, where is "in an emergency" written?

Ah My bad.

yuuji

有事に in an emergency

but it's
ゆうじの
so i'm guessing ゆうじ is a character?

Still a bit off, remember who the phrase is modifying.

Maybe something like:

I grabbed the hand of Yuuji who were starting to return to the halfsleeping world, and left the apartment.

"Grabbed" is a bit much, I think. "Took" is much better, especially since it would appear that Yuuji is a small child.

"Taking the hand of Yuuji as he was drifting back to sleep I (or "we") left the apartment."
Never underestimate my capacity for pettiness.
