"I need too much sleep."
I: personal pronoun referring to speaker; subject of the verb "need".
need: verb indicating necessity
too much: an adverbial phrase indicating excess, modifying "sleep"; hence, an excess of sleep
sleep: noun, the object of "need"
See? Parsing it is a piece of cake. Interpreting its meaning is not at all the same thing.
This is perhaps a pedantic point, but I'm often a pedantic person.
