The phrase I want to translate is: そんな彼が れたしの代用品を欲しがつたのは当然のゆきだつた

I can roughly translate some of the parts:
He was my substitute

I think it's talking about using somebody for evil purposes or changing somebody

I could be completely wrong!

Neverthless, in this sentence, the meaning of "私の代用品" is unclear without the context.
"My substitute goods" would be the translation. 代用品 is not usually used for a person unless it is meant to be sarcastic.
