As for the text behind Bob Dylan, given the lack of any kana I would hazard a guess that it is Chinese.

Well, sorry if I'm wrong. But I had a strong impression that it was written by a person who Is not that familiar with Japanese or Chinese.
MAYBE, someone who loved kanji (no matter which) made an effort to make this "banner", I guess.
OR, might be an extremely personal thing if it was written by a Japanese person. And I don't think it was written by a Chinese person. I can't explain why, though.

It reads:
(up right → down right)
誠実 honesty
謙遜 modesty
愛情 love
是基 based on (Chinese expression)
生命 life
使(his head is in the way)

The last one is
使命 --- Mission

What little I can see of the last character doesn't look like part of 命 which is the character next to it.
