A bit confused with this sentence

Do you have a translation question?

A bit confused with this sentence

Postby QuakerBits » Tue 03.20.2012 7:36 pm

So I'm shuffling threw my SRS, and came upon this sentence that keeps confusing me...

田中さんがあなたと友達になりたいと言っていましたよ。
じゃ、会ってみます。

So, as I'm sitting here about to post, I think I just understood it a little better.... but still confused..

What I'm translating the first sentence as is;
"田中さん said he has a friend he wants me to meet."

hmm :whistle:

It looks to me like it says 'Tanaka has been saying he wants to become your friend.' / 'Well then, I'll meet him and see how it goes.'

Even though you have them on the same line without quote marks, I can't see how they can be the same speaker.

oh sorry, my SRS cards usually have the answer follow the question. I'll go ahead and put the answer below it to avoid any more confusion(:

But, your translation makes sense! thankyou. I don't see why I thought tanaka was the one who had a friend for me to meet.. guess I was looking at it too hard >_<
